‘A Distant Christmas’ with LPAC
Celebrate ‘A Distant Christmas’ with Lincoln Performing Arts Centre
Never have festivities been more welcome! Yes, things are different; we have had to adapt and we hope to bring traditional theatre with a live audience back very soon. For now, let’s embrace the gift of digital media in our theatrical offering, A Distant Christmas.
A Distant Christmas is an augmented reality app, which is free to download on your phone, and tells the romantic mystery tale of a Christmas gone by, as you walk through the centre of Lincoln.
It is December 1918 and Kitty Hall is grieving the death of her sweetheart – killed in action in the last weeks of the War. But when he’s seen alive, walking the streets of Lincoln, Kitty and her friends set out on a quest to find him, searching across the city and hoping for a Christmas Miracle.
Performed by graduating students from the Lincoln School of Fine & Performing Arts and supported by a professional production team, the app features scenes acted out in character through your phone, connecting the story to where you are located. The script has been written specifically for Lincoln, as a site-specific digital theatre experience.
A Distant Christmas takes approximately 1 hour 20 minutes to complete depending on the length of time it takes you to find and travel to the various locations and uncover the clues to the next marker, so make sure you dress for the weather. It’s a fun excuse to get out of the house and go for a walk in your bubble, experiencing the city you think you know so well in a very different light.
