This half term, children of all ages can explore Lincoln’s parks, learn new skills, and make unforgettable memories, come rain or shine!
Families in Lincoln are invited to step outside and enjoy a week of outdoor adventures and creative workshops, hosted by the City of Lincoln Council’s Park Rangers.
With a variety of fun, affordable, and educational events taking place in parks across the city, there’s sure to be something to delight children of all ages and interests.
The week kicks off on Wednesday 28 May, where the creativity begins in the morning with a Tin Can Lantern workshop at Lincoln Arboretum. From 10am to 11:30am, children can let their imaginations shine as they use hammers and nails to design lanterns that twinkle with their own unique patterns.
Also, on Wednesday at 1pm, children can take part in a hands-on Bug Hunt at Boultham Park, where they can search for minibeasts in the grasslands and trees. It’s a brilliant chance to get up close with nature and maybe even face a few creepy crawlies!
The outdoor fun continues on Thursday, 29 May, starting at 10am in Hope Wood with Bug Box Hotels. In this workshop, children will build their own bug hotel to take home, while supporting local wildlife and learning about conservation.
On Thursday afternoon, Lincoln Arboretum will host a Whittling Workshop at 1pm. This safe and supervised session introduces children to the art of wood carving, an engaging and mindful activity that teaches basic knife skills in a fun and creative way.
All workshops cost just £4.00 per person and must be booked in advance, as spaces are limited.
