Day of the Dead at Waterside

The Day of the Dead Activities and Skeleton Parade is returning to Lincoln this Halloween!

Following the success of the event last year, Lincoln’s Day of the Dead returns this October. Everyone is invited to embrace the colour and carnival attitude of celebrating Halloween at this free spooktacular event. Expect music, mask making and plenty of mischief.

On Saturday 29th, get ready for some free Halloween Crafts (including making your own colourful mask, Mexican paper flower crowns and traditional sugar skulls) at the Waterside Shopping Centre with some frightening storytelling from a range of spooky characters.

On Sunday 30th, get ready for some Spooktacular performers including musicians, puppeteers, and performer hosts! Halloween crafts will take place throughout the day, but everyone is encouraged to stop by in the morning to make a mask for the skeleton parade in the afternoon. The Parade is free to join and will be led by costumed mariachi style musicians, choreographed theatrical performers, playful Halloween characters and a giant 9-foot-tall skeleton puppet… Great fun for all the family!

The festival is inspired by the annual Day of the Dead Mexican holiday (Día de Muertos), which pays tribute to the dead. If spooky stories, skull musicians, playful characters and Halloween crafts sound like fun, then this free event is perfect for you!

Craft guides are available to download from the Lincoln BIG website to make your own costume for the parade. (They will be uploaded to the Lincoln BIG website when I get them through, but I can also send across to you).

There will also be a Halloween fancy dress competition on Sunday 30th before the parade, so make sure you dress up in your best Halloween outfit to be in with a chance of winning a brilliant prize!
