After last year’s triumphant return to the venue with ‘Aladdin’, Lincoln’s best panto is bringing a sensational brand-new title to The Drill for 2022! ‘Rapunzel’ is a relatively new fairy story for the world of panto, made increasingly popular by the hugely successful 2010 Disney film ‘Tangled’.
The team at Jamie Marcus Productions Ltd were keen to bring something fresh and fun to Lincoln audiences, whilst continuing to deliver their well-loved brand of traditional panto. This year’s show is guaranteed to be packed with the same successful mix of family fun, laughter, songs, and special effects that’s kept audiences coming back to The Drill’s panto for the past 15 years!
Much-loved familiar faces, sparkling costumes, colourful scenery, and amazing special effects make Lincoln’s best panto the perfect Christmas treat for the whole family.
The Drill and Jamie Marcus Productions Ltd are both excited to welcome back by popular demand everyone’s favourite Dame, James Campbell as the local tavern owner and baker extraordinaire, ‘Dame Betty Buttercake.’ In addition to donning the wigs and petticoats again, James will also be taking the director’s chair this year, and he’s excited to take on the challenge!
James told us “I’m delighted to be returning to Lincoln for my 10 th panto at The Drill, playing Dame Betty Buttercake in Rapunzel. I’m also thrilled to be directing this year as well, taking over from the fabulous Julie Marcus, and audiences can expect the usual mix of magical storytelling, fabulous dance routines, great songs, and of course, plenty of laugh-out-loud comedy!!”
Last year’s audiences were treated to the birth of a hilarious new double-act from James as the Dame and the dastardly Abanazar, played by local film actor Craig Garner. Craig couldn’t wait to join his comedy chum once again this year for another Christmas full of fun; he’s returning to the cast of ‘Rapunzel’ as ‘Itchy,’ one half of Mother Gothel’s hapless henchmen the ‘Scabbington Twins,’ and there’s sure to be plenty of laughs in store!
Audiences may remember that Craig began his acting career back in 2007 in The Drill’s panto and has gone on to enjoy a success in such blockbuster films as ‘Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows,’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’ ‘Pokemon,’ and ‘Snow White & The Huntsman.’ Craig is thrilled to be back in his hometown once again this Christmas.
