Keep Your Kids Engaged This Half-Term with a ‘Love Birds’ Craft Event!

Looking for a fun and creative way to keep your children busy during the school holidays?

Hartsholme Country Park, one of the six parks managed by City of Lincoln Council, has organised a Love Birds event, a hands-on activity designed for children aged 5-14 to celebrate National Nest Box Week while staying entertained and learning about nature!

This exciting half-term event gives children the opportunity to assemble a bird box from a pre-cut wooden kit, using their hand-eye coordination to hammer the pieces together and create a cosy new home for local birds. Additionally, they can make two types of bird feeders; the first being a reusable cone covered in peanut butter or lard and coated with a wild bird seed mix, they can also make a bird feeder wreath made by threading peanuts and Cheerio’s onto a wire and shaping it into a ring.

The Love Bird event is taking place at three different locations to maximise capacity and cater to children across the city this half-term.

Boultham Park – Wednesday, 18 February from 10:00am to 11:30am

Hartsholme County Park – Wednesday, 18 February from 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Arboretum – Thursday, 19 February from 10:00am to 11:30am

Each session is limited to 15 spaces, and the cost for the event is £8.00 per child.

To reserve a spot, call the Hartsholme County Park team at 01522 873735 or email hartsholmecp@lincoln.gov.uk.

Make this half-term both fun and meaningful for your child while supporting local wildlife!
