Lincoln Families Set for a Spooktacular Half-Term with The BIG Spook!

Families in Lincoln are in for a frightfully fun time this October half-term as The BIG
Spook returns. A week-long celebration packed with creative workshops, parades,
trails, and plenty of monster-sized surprises! Running from 25 October to 1
November, the event is organised by Lincoln BIG and offers something for children
(and grown-ups!) of all ages to enjoy.

One of this year’s highlights is the return of the Strolling Bones Parade, produced by the incredible team at Walk the Plank. This colourful, musical, and slightly spooky spectacle will take to the streets of the Bailgate on Wednesday 29th October, with three performances throughout the day at 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm.

Expect to see giant skeleton puppets, live musicians, and plenty of interactive fun as the skeletons “dance” their way through Lincoln’s historic streets. The parade is completely free to attend, and families are encouraged to come along, dress up, and join in the Halloween magic.

Make Your Own Skeleton Hand Before the Parade!

Before the parade, families can also get creative at the Skeleton Hand Workshops on Tuesday 28 October. Hosted by Lincoln BIG and Walk the Plank, these fun, hands-on sessions teach children aged 8+ how to make and decorate their very own skeleton hand prop, ready to wave proudly during the parade the next day!

Workshops will run at several times throughout the day (10am, 11:30am, 1pm, and 2:30pm), and each participant will receive a complimentary “Skeleton – Monster Mash Head” bath bomb from Lush as a spooky treat for taking part.
Spaces are limited, so families are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment. Book your place by clicking here

So Much to Enjoy Across the City!

The fun doesn’t stop there, Lincoln is bursting with Halloween activities during half-term. Head to the Pumpkin Patch at Waterside on Saturday 25 October to pick your perfect pumpkin, take seasonal photos, and soak up the autumn atmosphere.

Little explorers will love the Pumpkin Cartoon Trail, which invites families to hunt down cheeky pumpkin characters hidden in shop windows and around the city centre. And don’t forget to look up! The ever-popular Monster Invasion is back, with giant inflatable monsters once again popping up on rooftops across Lincoln, each with its own spooky story to tell.

If your family enjoys a good ghost story, the Lincoln Ghost Bus Tours are also running on 18 October, 25 October, and 1 November, offering a thrilling ride through the city’s haunted history.

Plan Your Half-Term Adventure

With so much happening, The BIG Spook promises a week packed with creativity, laughter, and a few fun frights. From hands-on workshops to interactive parades, it’s the perfect way for families to make lasting Halloween memories right here in Lincoln.
