Bruce has many companions created to teach children that our emotions are a normal part of life. Good or bad these emotions can sometimes be overwhelming, especially, when they are too young to understand why they may feel sad. Bruce is a cloud and loves to make shapes to entertain people, especially children. He becomes over excited one day and Sol the sunflower is brave and reaches out to him. Teaching him a simple breathing technique, he quickly calms and feels better again.
Mel Holliday an NLP practitioner, studied the biology around breathing techniques, taking modules into schools to support, help and educate children to manage stress and emotions. She created six characters that introduced each module and found the children engaged quickly, loving the backstories and practicing Bruce’s breathing techniques. During lockdown, this all stopped and a friend suggested turning the first story into a book. Bruce was born and is selling quicker than Mel imagined. Getting such great reviews and interest, Mel is beginning to draft the next one. Hopefully the six books if written will be a great series to help children manage their stress in the future.
