Tumble Tots – the springboard to confidence for your child!

Tumble Tots prides itself in giving children the best start in life through their physical play programme.

Helen and Jacky have been running the classes since 2014. Along with their great team they are there to help and encourage the children whilst building confidence and skills.  Using the specially designed brightly coloured equipment children soon show improvement in physical ability such as balance and coordination as well as social skills.

The programme is unique as it was devised by an ex-olympic gymnastic instructor and is split into narrow age groups. The sessions are designed to develop motor skills in areas of agility, balance, climbing and coordination but most of all are lots of fun!

Walking to 2 years

As children start to walk confidently, these classes offer them the opportunity to explore through free play with a variety of movement experiences. With the assistance of parents, the classes gently stimulate body awareness and encourage the confident walker to attempt climbing, jumping and rolling. The children have fun and learn whilst there, the obstacles are brightly coloured and whilst in the sessions you can count the steps, talk about the colours and with the singing and rhymes this helps with speech too!

2 to 3 years

Still with parental assistance and using more challenging pieces of equipment, children are introduced to sessions based on activity stations. These form the basis for task sequences designed to develop agility, balance, climbing and co-ordination skills. Themed classes each week keep the sessions fun and engaging. Interaction with the older children is now more important and they are encouraged to develop listening and language skills.

3 years to school age

Task sequences become more challenging to further develop the child’s co-ordination, body awareness and controlled movements. The aim is to boost self-esteem and self confidence in preparation for school days ahead. As children of this age often show a need for some independence, they take part without the parent. While creativity is encouraged, this age group now learns to listen to direction and remember in sequential order.

The nearest classes are held at Ruston’s Sports and Social Club, North Hykeham on Mondays and Newark Sports and Fitness Centre on Wednesdays during term time. Check the website www.tumbletots.com/newark/book/ for other locations, class times and availability.
